1. What is Autophagy

Autophagy is a natural mechanism to combat loose skin, occurring during periods of fasting when the body recycles weak, old, and dead cells in the absence of food or nutrients.

2. Where to Start

To initiate this process, begin gradually by incorporating nutrient-rich foods that promote autophagy, such as green tea, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, ginseng, coffee, garlic, and mushrooms—eliminating the need for strict fasting. A holistic approach to fostering autophagy involves maintaining a well-balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, regular exercise, consistent sleep patterns, avoiding smoking, minimizing alcohol consumption, and practicing sun protection.

3. Deeper Autophagy

The deepest form of autophagy is achieved through fasting. Begin with daily intermittent fasting for 12-16 hours each day. Once you adapt to this routine, progress to a one-day reset, where you have dinner on Sunday night and nearly the entire day off on Monday. Following this, transition to a quarterly functional medicine detox.
