Omega-6 fatty acids are essential fats that the body needs for various functions, but excessive consumption, especially in the form of processed oils like corn, soybean, and sunflower oils, can lead to an imbalance in the omega-6 to omega-3 ratio.

This imbalance can lead to a wide variety of problems, and today I want to share with you why having too much omega-6 can accelerate aging and contribute to a higher risk of disease in the body.

Omega-6 fatty acids are essential fats required by the body for various functions, such as cell structure, brain function, and hormone production. They are polyunsaturated fats commonly found in vegetable oils like corn, soybean, and sunflower oils, as well as in nuts and seeds.

2. How Does Omega-6 Cause Aging in The Body

Omega-6 contributes to aging in multiple ways, including its conversion into pro-inflammatory substances, impaired cell signaling, oxidative stress, cardiovascular health issues due to arterial inflammation, and disruption of the body’s inflammation balance.

3. What Can You Do

Since omega-6 is abundant in many sources, it’s crucial to seek out omega-3 sources for a better balance. One of the easiest ways to boost omega-3 intake is through fish and supplements. Incorporating wild-caught salmon, trout, mackerel, sardines, and anchovies into your diet is recommended for optimal omega-3 levels.
