There are some people who tend to glamorize getting as little sleep as possible…

They claim to be both early birds and night owls.

And while there may be a genetic disposition for people to gravitate towards either waking early or going to bed later, it is important that you continue to get 7-9 hours of sleep per night.

So today I want to go over how you can work with nature and your diurnal rhythm to ensure you are getting the sleep you need.

The 4 Chronotypes

    1. Lark: Larks prefer to rise early in the morning and wake up with energy. They are more productive in the first half of the day and tend to go to bed earlier.
    2. Owl: Owls prefer late nights and are more productive in the evening. They tend to go to bed later and have more trouble waking up earlier.
    3. Intermediary: Intermediary chronotypes tend to fall somewhere between morning and evening. They have more flexibility in how they wake throughout the day and follow a more traditional sleep schedule.
    4. Afternoon: Afternoon chronotypes usually have peak energy and productivity in mid-morning and afternoon. Early morning and evenings are difficult for this type.
