Genetics vs. Environment:

Your genetics can influence your risk for certain health conditions, but they are only part of the picture. Lifestyle and environmental factors, including nutrition, exercise, stress, sleep, and other exposures, can influence how certain genes are expressed and may play an important role in long-term health.

Prostate Cancer & Pharmaceuticals:

New research shows that men with recurrent prostate cancer found promising results when enzalutamide was combined with leuprolide. After five years, 87.3% of men receiving both treatments remained free of metastasis or death, compared with 71.4% receiving leuprolide alone. The combination was also associated with a 57.6% lower risk of metastasis or death.

Soil Bacteria & Serotonin:

A study in mice found that exposure to a type of bacteria commonly found in soil may affect brain activity related to mood. While we need more research to know if the same effects occur in humans, it raises interesting questions about how spending time outdoors and connecting with nature may support overall well-being.
