HouseCall: Healthy Pillow Options, Testing Schedule, Oura Ring Tracking, Probiotics & Antibiotics, Sunflower Seeds & Sunflower Butter
Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend!
I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of our community’s questions that have come in over the past few weeks…
Let’s get started!
Lara: Hi, dr. C! I’m wondering about the right pillows for optimal health, good sleep & no pain. Currently I’ve had neck, shoulder and back pain for more than half a year.. there must be multiple reasons (can you tell me more about what you think they are?) but I’m guessing my pillow isn’t helping.. it’s old & made out of memory foam which I remember you once said is a toxic material.. I’m from Europe so probably your brand suggestions wouldn’t help but maybe you could talk about which pillow materials are healthy options and does the shape of the pillow matter? Anything & everything about pillows, please! Thank you for all you do! You’re my favourite source of information!
Annie: Hi Dr Cabral I did the Big 5 tests several years ago now (3 years) but I am having trouble losing weight and am seeing some hormone shifts. Would you recommend retesting all big 5 tests every so often or are there certain ones that you suggest more regularly?/What type schedule to you recommend for testing? For reference: 41 year old female Acne on my chin, Brain fog, trouble losing the last 5-10 lbs I am thinking I have larger estrogen dominance, slightly Hypothyroid, confirmed MTHFR Thank you! Annie
Anonymous: Hi, dr. Cabral.. I’ve just listened to the episode where you were talking about how you use your Apple watch and you said Oura is not good for tracking activity AT ALL.. can you please explain what you mean by that? I only have an Oura ring and don’t want to wear a watch so obviously I use my Oura for also tracking my activity like steps and heart rate when I go on walks, it detects when I do housework or dance for example and asks me if that was what I was doing so it tracks it as an activity.. I don’t mind if it’s not AS accurate as some other devices but would like to understand why you said it’s not good AT ALL.. thanks
Kristen: What are the best (research backed) probiotics for women after a short bout of antibiotics? Also, what about the women working through gut issues in the absence of antibiotics (assuming they are doing many other of the ‘things’ to help heal their gut)- which probiotics are best? This is if they do not have the funds to get a GI map test or functional tests. Do you recommend brands and strains? I would love to have a resource to refer to on this topic. Feels like the Wild West! Thank you!
Sharon: You mentioned that sunflower oil had a high omega 6-3 ratio. Do you recommend avoiding sunflower seeds and sunflower seed butter too? Thanks.
Thank you for tuning into this weekend’s Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right!
