1. How Does Cortisol Production Work

Cortisol rises in the morning and slowly decreases throughout the day. Your peak cortisol levels should be between 6-8 am. As cortisol begins to decrease in the evening, melatonin begins to rise.

2. What Time Should You Go To bed

If you are going to bed past 10 pm you may be missing the melatonin window and then cortisol may be giving you a 2nd wind.  The optimal bedtime would be between 9-10 pm with a waking time of 6 am.

3. How to Fix Your Sleep Cycle

If you find yourself going to bed too late in the evening, try to work your bedtime back by 15 minutes each week. Allow yourself to wake up on your own in the morning or use a wake light to ensure you are not waking up during a REM cycle.
