1. What is Melatonin

Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone in our body, which gets turned on when our eyes start to see and sense that it is getting dark outside. Melatonin naturally increases in the evening and balances out lowering cortisol.

2. How Can Melatonin Be Beneficial

Besides using melatonin as a sleep aid, it can be helpful for a variety of other reasons. Melatonin helps to reduce cortisol which can improve sex hormones and it can help with seasonal depression (SAD). Melatonin has also been shown to relieve heartburn and is known as a powerful antioxidant.

3. How Much Melatonin Do You Need

The standard dosage for melatonin is 3-10mg. We recommend you always use the lowest effective dose that works for you. After a few weeks of a higher dosage of 5-10mg you may also be able to slowly taper down to 1-3mg per night.
