Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows!
This is where we answer our community’s wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track!
Check out today’s questions:
Devin: I’m 34 years old, never been on birth control but started it 3 years ago per a dermatologist advising this was the only way to combat cystic hormonal acne. I didn’t want to be on it, but low and behold..it works. I’ve tried weening myself off of it 3 times and the breakouts are unbearable, so I inevitably go back on it. I saw my PCP last month and asked if there was anything else I could try, to which she advised there was not, but that on the bright side “menopause shouldn’t be too far away so [I] won’t have to stay on birth control forever”. I know there’s a root cause here somewhere, I just don’t know where to start. I don’t understand how the hormones in birth control kill the inflammation, and how nothing else will help? I had never had thyroid issues until about a year after I started using it – and now I’m taking active steps to heal my body. So, where can I start with finding the root cause here? And will I be able to find it while I’m taking the hormonal birth control or will I need to stop taking it before doing any testing? Or do I really have to stay on birth control until I hit menopause? Please help!
Erin: Sinus question: my allergist said I have calcification from dried mucus in my sinuses and the only way to get it out is the “roto-rooter” surgery where they put you under and clean all the sinuses out. Seems like there has to be another way to get it out…any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!
Holli: My 15 year old son was diagnosed with EoE eosinophils of the esophagus. We can’t afford lab testing. What do you recommend after the 7 day detox?
Gary: Hi Dr. Cabral, I had a question regarding testicular pain due to pelvic floor dysfunction. I am currently working with a PT to resolve this. The pelvic floor issues have also contributed to chronic constipation and leaky gut. Until my pelvic floor issues are resolved, what do you think I could do to lessen pain? (ice and cold showers on the area tend to work) Thank you! Gary
Gary: Hi Dr. Cabral, I have burning tongue issues that have been greatly lessened by taking B-12. (have tried both methylcobalamin and adenosyl hydroxy with similar results). It is now non-existent most of the time but randomly comes on at points during the day. All spices and even salt aggravate it, so I avoid those. Redmon’s REAL salt is the only salt the doesn’t both it. I have gut issues I’m working to resolve (chronic constipation, leaky gut, etc), which is probably why I have a B-12 deficiency. Any advise other than B-12 to fix the burning tongue or is simply once the gut is fixed it will be fixed? Thank you!
Pamela: Hi Dr Cabral! I really enjoy your podcast and appreciate all the knowledge you share! My question is about oxalates. My diet is mostly plant based and recent tests have come back showing high oxalates. Is there a protocol that would help to decrease the oxalates?
