Magnesium plays a critical role in over 600 processes in the body, with a key function being the regulation of the nervous system, particularly in managing the fight-or-flight response. It helps counteract stress by short-circuiting the sympathetic nervous system, reducing the effects of stress and anxiety.

2. Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 is crucial for producing neurotransmitters like serotonin and GABA, which regulate mood and brain function. Without enough B6, cognitive function, mood, and overall health can be negatively affected. 

3. What Does the Research Show

A study with 264 participants found that supplementation of 300 mg magnesium and 30 mg vitamin B6 daily significantly reduced stress levels, especially among those with severe stress. The combination of magnesium and vitamin B6 led to greater stress reduction compared to magnesium alone.
