HouseCall: Nightmares & Melatonin, CNS & Basal Body Temperature, Testing for Parasites, Goat’s Milk & Eczema, Omega-3 & Calanus Finmarchicus
Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend!
I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of our community’s questions that have come in over the past few weeks…
Let’s get started!
Jenna: I experience vivid nightmares when taking melatonin. Why is that and is there any way to avoid it?
Grace: Hi Dr.Cabral, I am 25-year old female I have been taking my basal temperature every morning through Natural Cycles as a natural form of birth control. My temperature is always fluctuating between mid-96 to mid-97 degrees. I learned in level 1 this could be a sign of CNS. I don’t believe to have other symptoms of CNS. What tests would you recommend running as well as what symptoms to look for?
Katy: Hi Dr. Cabral – so appreciative of all you do and share! I heard you mention testing for parasites with the stool test, but am wondering are there other ways you can or should test to find them elsewhere in the body? I’m working on figuring out the root cause of my symptoms and am wondering if parasite could be a cause even though it showed up negative in a stool test (done with a separate functional medicine doctor). Also could parasites cause bloating if they are elsewhere (not in the gut) from the body? I have a lot of symptoms but serious bloating being one of them. Lastly, if I am unable to confirm with tests and just do the parasite protocol, would I assume I had parasites if I start to feel some of my symptoms improve? Thank you!
Elizabeth: Hi Dr. Cabral, I recently heard an episode where you answered a question about eczema from swimming in hot tubs. That has been my experience my whole life, whether it’s brominated, chlorinated, or salt pools. I’ve always been a swimmer but had to give it up in my twenties when I finally realized my eczema was getting worse every swim season and would then take a few months to heal, just in time for the new swim season to start. Since quitting swimming I have fully healed, but recently I started drinking goats milk after being mostly dairy free for over 10 years and I got a horrible eczema reaction. My question is this: I read everywhere that goats milk heals eczema, but why do you think it is making mine worse? Could the culprit be my liver & will I ever be able to eat dairy? Thank you!!
Bettina: Dear Dr. Cabral. What are your thoughts on omega 3 oil from Calanus finmarchicus? I’ve found a product which I am curious to hear your thoughts on. Two pills contains the following: SDA 75 mg, EPA 73 mg, DHA 53 mg, Total omega 3 230 mg, Policosanol 263 mg, Ketolinic acid 29 mg, Astaxanthin 1700 ug and Vitamin D3 10ug. Could this be an alternative to “regular” omega 3 oil supplement? Thank you so much for you time and thoughts on this.
Thank you for tuning into this weekend’s Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right!
