Check out today’s questions:
Noel: Hi Dr. Cabral I’d love to hear more about Mimosa Pudica seed. After using it for over 10 months, my girth has decreased. Wow. I think it’s binding or “scrubbing” biofilm or “mucoid plagues” like crazy. Would love to hear more of your thoughts about this as a part of detox. fyi – I’ve order a few tests from Equilibrium Nutrition and will begin your 21 Day Detox very soon. I’ve also just begun the IHP certification program. I’m feeling so energized by all that you offer and share.
Erick: I have been trying to remedy my vertical nail ridges, mainly on my left hand, mainly on my ring and pinky finger, with deep ridges. I have been doing the DCD protocols for over a year now and they still haven’t lessened. I have done CBO, heavy metal, intestinal cleanse, at least 6 months of healthy gut support, parasite cleanses and eat clean. I also take addl B vitamins, D, Magnesium, C, and probiotic-all Equilibrium products. As you can tell, I am a fan of your information and all has worked very well for me. Just trying to get to the bottom of why the body isn’t absorbing nutrients. I am a vata-pitta body type. Thank you for having the mindset you do on all!
Anonymous: Hi Dr. Cabral, I haven’t heard you talk much about Men’s prostate. As a younger man, in my 30’s, I’m a bit concerned with the health of my prostate. Ever since I can remember it has taken me a longer than normal to begin urinating when I’m at the toilet while others seem to be able just fire away the second they unzip their pants. Also, it oftentimes feels like I don’t entirely empty my bladder and I find myself getting up in the middle of the night to pee pretty regularly. I’m a pretty healthy individual. I’m on your daily foundational protocol and regularly do moderate exercise. I’ve had Chlamydia in the past which I took care of through antibiotics but still to this day I can sometimes feel a slight burning sensation when I urinate. It’s very hard for me to feel fully rested and rejuvenated as I feel like my immune system is always a bit compromised. I also believe that I may have ringworm or some type of fungal infection of the skin which also has caused me to experience itchy anus. Overall I just feel like something in my body isn’t right. Either mold, candida, virus, or some type of low grade infection that I can’t seem to get rid of. I’ve done the parasite cleanse and 21 day detox. What would you recommend for next steps in getting well? Thank you so much for all that you do.
Hollie: Hi Dr Stephen Cabral , Thanks for taking the time to answer this question. I really love the podcasts. I’m 37 , have had one child 4 years ago , I’ve never had weight issues , even after having my daughter I bounced back within 6 months . In the last year the weight has been piling on – particularly around my mid section. I eat a plant based diet / exercise as often as I can – walking at least 10,000 steps a day , plus a bit of interval training when I can. My daughter and I are an active family. I’ve noticed cellulite on the front of my legs , shocked as I’ve never had cellulite before. My skin appears to have lost elasticity on my legs. My hormones seem fine – from a recent blood test , my cycle regular now after having my daughter . Sleep isn’t great , digestive issues like bloating occurs daily. I’m heavy now than when I was 9 months pregnant. I’ve been under enormous stress for almost 2 years , but things have gotten better recently.Any insight would be helpful – thank you Hollie
John: Hi Dr. Cabral, I’m interested in becoming a functional medicine doctor, but I’m having a tough time deciding between naturopathic and osteopathic schools. Could you speak about the pros and cons of both, and which do you recommend to people looking to open a functional medicine practice?
James: Hey Dr Cabral! Just wanted to get your opinion on something I was thinking about today. It seems clear to me that ancient civilisations, traditions and medicines were in many ways far more advanced than we are today, and without all the wonderful technology we have. Relating it back to health – hippocrates once said all disease begins in the gut, something we seem to be discovering only now. In Ayurveda, mint is known to be cooling to the body, and I recently heard that in some studies, peppermint tricked the nerves of the liver into thinking it was cold and induced hepatothermic abilities. I’m just curious to hear your opinion on why and how they knew so much, so long ago. Particularly with your expertise in Ayurveda – was this stuff just trial and error? I find it hard to understand how they had all this knowledge without the testing capabilities we have today. I guess that’s a million $ question hey, I just wondered your opinion as someone I highly respect! Thanks Doc James B!
