A recent study shows that red light therapy can help reduce blood sugar levels, so today I want to discuss what that means, how you can access it in nature, and which light sources can help you achieve these results.

1. What Did The Study Show

The study discovered that exposure to red light led to a decrease in blood sugar levels. Specifically, there was a 27.7% reduction in glucose elevation after intake and a 7.5% decrease in maximum glucose spiking.

2. How Does Red Light Lower Blood Sugar Levels

Red light penetrates the skin and stimulates mitochondria which boosts ATP production,. This increase in energy leads to greater glucose utilization, which can reduce glucose levels in the bloodstream.

3. How Can You Mimic This

You need to expose your skin to sunlight during the times when the sun emits the highest amount of red light, which is typically an hour or two after sunrise and an hour or two before sunset. If you are unable to get enough sunlight, you can also use red light therapy devices.
