WW: Why You Should Move Your Meals Earlier in the Day (New Research)

I talk a lot about the advantages of intermittent fasting for weight loss and overall well-being.

The extensive research I’ve conducted reinforces the idea that there are both effective and ineffective approaches to long-term intermittent fasting.

And today I’m excited to share a recent study that further emphasizes the principles my colleagues and I have been promoting for years.

1. What Was The Study

The study assessed early time-restricted feeding (eTRF), a form of intermittent fasting that limits calorie consumption to the first eight hours of the day. The study investigated the effects of eTRF on glycemia and inflammation, independently of weight loss.

2. What Did The Study Show

The study suggests that consuming a larger portion of daily calories in the early part of the day can help prevent weight gain, stabilize blood sugar levels, and reduce the duration of elevated blood sugar levels.

3. What We Do in Our Practice

Our practice recommends a meal schedule that begins with breakfast at 8 a.m., followed by lunch at noon, which constitutes the bulk of your daily caloric intake. Consuming larger meals during the early part of the day, when you are most active, can enhance digestion and aid in stabilizing blood sugar levels. For dinner, we suggest a lighter meal with fewer calories.
