While none of these cultures follow a specific “protocol” they all share similarities and a strong focus on nutrition.

Surprisingly a vast majority of their diet comes from starchy foods and yet they are typically not overweight, nor do they suffer from most of the diseases you find in western-based cultures.

1. Grains

The diet for Blue Zone cultures is typically 2/3rd (60%+) carbohydrates. This comes from stone ground, non-gmo, pesticide-free starches such as colorful root-based vegetables, farro, barley, brown rice, oatmeal, quinoa, and bulgur wheat.

2. Diet

In addition to starches, their diet consists of brightly colored fruits and vegetables, some animal protein, healthy fats, and nuts.

3. Avoid

The diet of the Blue Zone cultures does not include sugary beverages, processed sugary treats, candy, cookies, salty snacks, and processed meats.
