Show Highlights & Big Takeaways

1. Heavy Metals in Tampons

A new study from UC Berkeley has found that some tampons may contain toxic metals like lead, arsenic, and cadmium. This is concerning because millions of people use tampons regularly, and these metals can increase the risk of serious health issues such as dementia and cancer.

2. Healthy Alternatives to Tampons

There are several alternatives to tampons, and I encourage you to explore and choose the best option for you. Some alternatives include:
    1. Menstrual Cup
    2. Menstrual Disc
    3. Period Panties
    4. Reusable Cloth Pads
    5. Disposable Pads
    6. Period Swimwear
    7. Natural Sea Sponge

3. Psychotherapy & Pain

A new study from UCLA Health and the U.S. Veterans Affairs Office found that a new therapy called Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET) can significantly reduce chronic pain in older adults by addressing past trauma and stress. Veterans who received EAET experienced much greater pain relief and improvement in mental health symptoms compared to those who received traditional cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
