TWT: This Is Better Than a Mammogram for Cancer Screening

I love exploring new health technologies and sharing ways you can use them for early health detection.

While mammograms have long been the gold standard in breast cancer screening, I believe they come with certain risks that are not always discussed by your doctor.

Fortunately, there have been major advancements in technology, offering alternative and safer methods for breast cancer screening.

So on today’s Cabral Concept 3049, I want to share with you four ways to screen for breast cancer and discuss what I believe is the best option. Enjoy the show, and let me know your thoughts!

Show Highlights & Big Takeaways

Types of Breast Cancer Screenings

  • Thermography: Thermography is a non-invasive, radiation-free screening method that uses infrared imaging to detect abnormal heat patterns in breast tissue, which may indicate the presence of tumors.
  • Mammography: Mammography is currently the gold standard in early breast cancer detection due to its high efficacy, but it comes with risks associated with radiation exposure.
  • Quantitative Transmission Ultrasound Tomography: This method uses ultrasound to create detailed images without radiation or breast compression. It is particularly effective for women with dense breast tissue, although it is newer and not as widely available.
  • Non-Contrast Torso MRI: This screening method uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed images of the breast and surrounding tissues without contrast agents, helping to detect abnormalities such as tumors.
