It seems like every day there is a new fad diet that hits the internet…

But when it comes to wellness and longevity the doctors and researchers that work with hundreds of thousands of people in their practice agree on tried and true methods to ensure proper nutrition and optimal health…

As an example, on today’s #CabralConcept 2469 I want to share with you the “Physician Diet” that was recommended to 9 million patients, as well as go over my thoughts on what I would add and would I would take away – Enjoy the show and let me know what you thought in the comments!

1. Who

This diet was given to Physicians to recommend to their patients who wanted to reverse or prevent heart disease, get to a healthier weight, lower blood sugar, reduce or eliminate certain medications, and many others.

2. What

This diet recommends the following…
  • Fill Half your plate with non-starchy vegetables
  • Fill 25% of your plate with starchy vegetables
  • Add a small side salad or Tbs of nuts
  • Add 1/2 Cup of Fruit
  • Fill the remaining portion of your plate with beans and/or legumes

3. My Recommendation

The remaining portion of your plate is what most people will disagree on. Some will recommend meat, fish, eggs, dairy, etc. My recommendation would be to rotate proteins between lunch and dinner. Try a plant-based protein for lunch and meat/fish protein for dinner and vice versa. Also, it’s best not to eat fruit with a meal and consume as a snack or part of a morning protein smoothie.
