HouseCall: Pseudotumor Cerebri, Silver Uses, Histamines in Fish, Magnesium Stearate, Hashimoto’s & Fasting
Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows!
This is where we answer our community’s wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track!
Check out today’s questions:
Cheryl: Dr. Cabral, I have a 23 year old daughter with Pseudotumor cerebri. She has been on a diuretic for the past 8 months. What we have researched online it seems that the only constant is being overweight and of child bearing age. When this was originally diagnosed she was having vision problems and had to have a spinal tap to remove fluid to ease the pressure. Is there anything you can recommend? Or is weight loss the best course of action? She is probably about 5’8″ and weighs between 170 to 180. She had loss some weight after she was first diagnosed and was able to get off the diuretic for about 2 months. Since then she has put some of the weight back on and is now back on the diuretic. We worry about long terms effect of the diuretic. Thank you in advance for your help. We love your podcast and I just ordered your big 5 lab tests and can’t wait to take them. Thanks Cheryl
Michelle: You talk about the use of silver. I was specifically interested in the silver nasal spray, however I always do my own research and feel concerned over Mayo Clinics opinion of silver – that it isn’t safe and also that it colors the skin and can build up in the body over time and even cause kidney damage. Can you elaborate on where you get your research compared to Mayo Clinic? Why the difference in opinion?
Simon: Hi Stephen,Are tinned sardines a healthy protein option (a few times a week)? I only eat wild caught and I have heard of others speak of sardines as one of the healthiest proteins (high Omega-3 with low heavy metals) however I know you have said in the past that eating tinned food is not ideal. What is the main concerned with tinned? BPA? Histamines? I am trying to reduce meat and increase fish whilst eating as healthy as possible but price and preparation time is an issue with most non-farmed fish. I am a very active ’hard gainer’ who is recovering (thanks to you!) from long-term IBS issues. On balance would you recommend eating tinned sardines on a regular basis as a convenient, healthy protein? Thank you!
Shane: Hi Dr. Cabral Love your book and podcast appreciate everything you do! I have one quick question I noticed in your supplements I see there is Magnesium Stearate in your products. I have heard that magnesium stearate is not good for the liver. Just wanted to see if you can help me understand better so I can make a better decision. Thanks so much!!
Sandra: Is that true IF is not a good idea to do for someone dealing with Hashimoto? Thanks
