HouseCall: Frequent Morning Bowel Movements, Detox Support, Menopause & Libido, Why Am I Hungry, Naval Oil, Gilbert’s Syndrome Tips
Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend!
I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of our community’s questions that have come in over the past few weeks…
Let’s get started!
Keri: Hi Dr. Cabral, I’m a newer listener and have really been appreciating the wisdom and information you share on your podcast. I’m hoping you’ll be able to give insight into my now year long struggle with digestive issues. About a year ago, I started having multiple bowel movements each morning. Which sounds great, except that when I do have to go, it’s urgent. Which means that I have developed anxiety to be anywhere there is not a bathroom in between 6 and 11 am (morning commutes anywhere are a nightmare!). When I go, it seems to be a complete bowel movement, but within 30-45 minutes, I’ll have to go again. Initially, it was normal stools, then turned to diarrhea & also yellowish stools at times and also undigested food in stools. I have also had chronic mild & transient pain under my right rib—-In fact, sometimes I notice the pain less, but will notice the entire right side of my body from shoulder to hip is cinched up. Functional medicine testing resulted in me doing an herbal protocol for SIBO, and taking loads of supplements for nutritional deficiencies—my largest being ALA, then B vitamins, Iron & Vitamin D. Calcium blood levels were a little elevated. The nutritional supplements have greatly helped with my energy, and SIBO levels are normal, but I am back to being housebound between 6 & 11 am, and sometimes later. I also often still have undigested food and small amounts of mucus in stools. GI doctor seemed to think I have gall/pancreas issues as I don’t digest fats well, but pancreatic lipase level was only slightly low. He prescribed Questran for Bile Acid Diarrhea, which has done nothing and is hard to choke down and I’d rather use a natural approach. Dietary changes I have tried are AIP (which was okay, but I have trouble digesting fibers) GAPS which made me significantly worse and have a flare that almost led to an ER visit (I suspect because of the fats, and LOW FODMAP which leads to very mild improvements. Appreciate your guidance, whatever it may be–realizing you can not give medical advice. Even if it’s just to tell me to order more tests or research a supplement, I’m grateful
Lisa: Hi Stephen – I would love to get your thoughts on egg freezing apologises but it is rather urgent as I need to make a call to start the first week of October. I’m super sensitive to medication and wondering how my body would go with the hormones and general anesthetic? I’m currently completing Level 2 IHP and even had a reaction to the FM detox on Day 2 and not being able to stomach the shake. Really appreciate your guidance Many thanks Lisa
Cindy: Hi Dr. Cabral, Thank you for all you do. I am a long time listener. 🙂I am a perimenopausal woman, 46 years old, with hypothyroidism for 25 years, but I only started feeling symptoms at around age 40 (also the time I lived in a moldy house!). I have had issues with hot flashes, on and off, since about 40 as well. For the past few months I have NOT had any hot flashes, while I am taking a dropper full of Chaste tree berry daily. I avoid gluten and cow dairy. Tested: gluten issue, both genetically & with food sensitivity. A lack of energy has been my main issue since 2016, but I am feeling more & more like my self, full of life. One issue though… my libido is so low. I want to have the same level as my husband, but I am lacking much in this area. I’ve been doing the “Fake it until you make it” for too long now. I want the same vitality that my husband has! I want it for him; I want it for me. But, I also want it naturally! Please tell me how. Best regards, Trying to keep up with XXXXX.
Cindy: Hi Dr. Cabral, It’s me again. 🙂 I have practiced intermittent fasting (12 to 18 hours) for over a year. I completed several Cabral Detox Protocol and a 2 week Detox Protocol. Also, I have completed a Cabral CBO Protocol, just finished a Heavy Metal Detox and will be starting the Mold Detox Protocol today. About two weeks ago, I started drinking a smoothie with DNS daily (with 1 cup organic blueberries, 1/2 teaspoon ashwagandha, 8 oz. almond milk, and a scoop of ice). Then, about 5 hours I would eat a large salad with 1/2 avocado, olive oil, and nuts/seeds. About 5 hours later, I would eat a variety of things for dinner. After about 1 week, I started getting really hungry within a couple hours after eating. So then I added in about a cup of nuts (a few of each: brazil, macadamias, walnut, pecan, & almond) to breakfast. I seem to crave protein. I cannot seem to get enough. I have not gained weight, but I really should start focusing on losing 20 pounds of fat! I believe you, “A healthy body will NOT store fat.”So, I have focused on health, and I am healthier because of it….but I am not a lean machine, as my husband. Please tell me, why am I so hungry? Even when I eat well, I feel soooooo hungry! It is easier NOT to eat because once I get over one hungry feeling, the hard part is over. With eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner… I really am hungry in between meals…. yet I am eating quality meals. This morning I woke up, a few minutes before my alarm, to a growling stomach! Should I start monitoring my blood sugar? Trying to understand, Hungry Cindy
Yvonne: Hi Dr. Cabral! Is putting oils in your navel a real Ayurvedic remedy or is this just a social media craze? I’ve never heard you mention it. BTW, I loved the IHP L1 & L2 certification. I appreciate your time, knowledge and passion you share daily.
Laima: Hello, my nephew who is 15 years old has Gilbert’s syndrome. What would you suggest to do in this case? Many thanks!
