This is where we answer our community’s wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track!
Check out today’s questions:
Chloe: Hi Dr Cabral. My question is about the increasing information about breast implant illness. I have had breast implants for nearly 6 years. I have gained weight in this time and I have been increasingly feelings less “vital”. The weight gain could be due to me changing from a very physical job to an extremely sedentary job. My question is have you seen “breast implant illness” in your practice before? I have seen a lot of people on Facebook claiming to be healed once their implants were removed and losing weight and inflammation. They show before surgery and after surgery of their face looking completely different from inflamed to healthy in just a couple of hours after surgery. Can you lab test for silicone in the body? Do you think this is a thing? Or could I just be feeling this way due to toe rain barrel effect and it could have nothing to do with my implants at all? Thanks in advance and thank you for all the incredible work you do!
Diana: Hello! I’ve had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for 22 years and I’m a bit confused by the terms you use to refer to the ailment. I always thought CFS, CFIDS, and ME were different terms that referred to the same syndrome. However, you seem to use them to refer to different levels of severity. Could you explain why and what the differentiation between them are? Thanks for answering. I love your podcast and am binging on past episodes, but getting through everything seems like a Sisyphean task. I’m not complaining, though; at least I know I’ll never run out of episodes to listen to. Best, Diana
Mary: Hi there, A friend of mine has been talking about some of Dr. Cabral’s recommendations and it sounds interesting. I was wondering where I could find more information on Dr. Cabral’s naturopathic recommendations? Thank you! Mary Kay
Sean: Hi, My friend just got diagnosed with gastroparesis after numerous tests and visits to the doctor. I’m wondering if you had more information that i can pass along to her that will help her. thanks! sean
Shantal: I did a huge battery w/ a naturopathic doctor here in SF (SIBO test and GI effects test). I came up with slightly elevated levels of methane gas, high levels of yeast, and low levels of beneficial bacteria. The doctor suggested 2 rounds of primarily homeopathic/herbal meds with 1 antibiotic. I’ve not taken them yet as I feel I want more direction and guidance than what was given. I’ve been listening to Dr. Cabral’s podcast for months and am curious about working with anyone in his practice. I don’t want to do those tests again (eek) but do need more direction from here onward. I went to Europe for a month(just returned last night) and did not have ANY of the inflammation that I do here in the US but my skin was irritated by either the dairy, meat, or heat. Clearly I have much I need guidance on. How do I find more about this, the process to work with someone, and if it’s all virtually done (I’m in San Francisco). Thank you and be well…
Allison: Hi Stephen! I was hoping to get some information on hormone imbalance. I recently turned 30 and all of a sudden I am noticing a huge change in my skin. Very dry and itch. Especially my face and scalp. We live in the south and have lots of humidity so I feel like this isn’t just because of dry air. My periods have also recently changed. More painful cramps and it’s now 5 or 6 days instead of 4. I’m wondering if these symptoms could be a change of hormones and if I should get tested for a hormone imbalance. Do you do anything like that? Any help is much appreciated!
Julie: Can I get information about signing up for this September’s health coaching certification? Also, are there appointments available with one of the coaches to help me determine my dosha body type? Thank you, I have been enjoying listening to podcasts and am learning much. Julie
Kristen: Hi Dr. Cabral, Love your podcast and all the content. I am currently reading The Rain Barrel Effect right now and love that too. I do have a question for you that I cannot seem to get to the bottom of. I currently live in San Francisco, CA but I am originally from Portland, OR. Every single time I go home to Portland (5-6 times a year), the weirdest thing happens. I get SO extremely tired, fatigued, major brain fog and sometimes anxiety. It baffles me because when I go home I eat pretty much the same way I would when I am in SF, drink lots of water, drink the same amount of coffee, work out the same etc. I do get more sleep when I go to Portland (catch up on sleep) so I may be getting 9-10 hours instead of 6-8, but usually when I am in SF I’ll catch up on sleep at least one night on the weekend as well and I don’t feel this way. It feels as if there is literally something in the water that’s making me feel this way (I did some research – SF has fluoride in the water while Portland does not so not sure if that would make a difference at all?!?) Any suggestions or thoughts? Thank you! Kristen
Katherine: Hi Dr. Stephen, Thank you for all you do and the wealth of knowledge you produce in your podcasts! I have a friend who has super sensitive skin. She gets red marks wherever you touch her and it will last a while (over 10 mins). Is this a lack of calcium? What can she do?
Thank you for tuning into today’s Cabral HouseCall and be sure to check back tomorrow where we answer more of our community’s questions!
