How to Keep Your Heart Healthy

February 23, 2011 by Chris Roberts Leave a Comment

Although heart disease is one of the most preventable diseases in
the US
, it is still the leading cause of death in the US.

The good news is that you can actually reverse the effects of heart disease
through lifestyle changes and adding certain natural supplements to your
nutritional program.

Let’s get started with adding in these natural supplements daily:

Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Use this supplement to slow the rate of plaque and hardening of the arteries,
known as atherosclerosis. This supplement can also reduce the risk of
arrhythmias, which have been known to lead to unexpected heart attacks.
Recommended dosage: 3,000mg daily

Coenzyme Q10
It increases oxygenation to the heart and can help to reduce the risk of
having a second heart attack.
Recommended dosage: 100mg – 300mg daily

L-Carnitine
Helps transport long chain fatty-acids and aid in the prevention of heart
disease and other cardiovascular diseases.
Recommended dosage: 500mg – 1,000 daily

Vitamin E
This supplement helps protect against cell damage.
Recommended dosage: 200mg – 400mg daily

Cayenne Pepper
This product contains capsaicin, which is a natural blood thinner that helps
prevent heart attacks and strokes.
Check with your doctor if you are on Coumadin or other blood thinners.

Hawthorne Berry
Relaxes blood vessels and enhances circulation, as well as preventing
arterial hardening.
Recommended dosage: 100mg twice daily

Exercise
Work up to 45 – 60 minutes at least 4 times a week. Get a clean bill of health
from your doctor before beginning.

Take your pulse before you exercise and then immediately upon stopping.
Repeat every 5 minutes until your pulse has returned to your pre-exercise
level. When your heart rate returns to its pre-exercise level within 5 minutes
of stopping you know you and your heart are in good shape.

Always check with your doctor or cardiologist when putting together a
program that includes both natural supplements and traditional western
medicine.
