HouseCall: Boils, ASMR, Local Candida Infections, Clean Out Diverticula, Strep Acne, OCD Imbalances
Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend!
I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of our community’s questions that have come in over the past few weeks…
Let’s get started!
Jean: Hello, can you please talk to us about boils. my son has had boils all over his body but mostly on his buttock for the last 3 years (off and on) is there anything in Functional Medicine, Ayurvedic or naturopathy to stop them from happening. background 16 years old, male, fit, strong, enjoys life but has everyday stresses of school, diet is 80% organic diet mostly 60% vegetarian 10% organic meat but does have a high dose of 30% junk food (chips, soft drink, dairy, fried food, white bread). sleeps 8 hours a night. thanks for your time Jean.
Mina: What are your thoughts on ASMR as a means to switch on the parasympathetic nervous system? I’ve received tingling sensations in my scalp by watching ASMR videos and I’m fascinated as to why this happens. Any idea? Check out an ASMR soap-carving or tapping video. *mindblown*
Mimi: Dear Dr. Cabral, I’m curious about the length of time for healing after the CBO protocol. I had candida/bacterial overgrowth on the OAT test, no parasites on the stool test, and mild sensitivities on the IGG test. I’m almost done with the CBO protocol + citricidal and have followed it with the sensitive gut/elimination diet very strictly. I’m still following the elimination diet just to be safe. My gut feels good, but I had 3 symptoms when I started that I thought were related to the gut overgrowth, and they persist daily: (1) itchy eczema on my ears (2) anal itching and (3) a white tongue (not a coating, just more white than pink). Based on the HTMA + omega-3 test, I’m also supplementing with all EN products to rebalance mineral deficiencies and omega-3. I was hoping these 3 symptoms would have started to subside as I’m almost done with the CBO, but they haven’t eased, so my question is, do you see these kinds of symptoms go away during the protocol, or more after the 3 months of heal + seal? Thank you for everything you do – you have saved my health and my life and I am eternally grateful for you!
Manny: Hello Dr. Cabral! I love your podcast and all that you do. I’m a 52 year old male and have had diverticulosis with diverticulitis for the last 5 years. I listened to episode 827 and have ordered the 3 gut tests (OAT, IGG, stool). In that episode you mentioned an “autoimmune/paleo” diet but didn’t go into specifics. I understand that when I get the tests back, I will likely go on the CBO protocol with the sensitive gut guide – is this guide the same as the “autoimmune/paleo” diet you mentioned? If so, should I go ahead and start the sensitive gut guide while I wait for the tests? And one more part to my question – in your experience, do the pockets of diverticula actually heal or will they always be there? Thank you, with the deepest gratitude and appreciation for you!!
Lauren: Hi Dr Cabral, do you have a protocol for strep/acne…. thanks
Cole: Hi Dr. Cabral!! I love your podcasts & books, my question is regarding OCD. I have had it since I was in high school, maybe around 14 or 15 years old. I am now 23. It’s not the kind of OCD where I need everything to be straight or clean (though I do like being clean) but rather I have to always “check” everything so that I’m not missing anything. Whenever I leave my house I HAVE to go over a “checklist” in my head of some things I might need or be missing. I’ve noticed it has to do more with my own possessions, for example, I only start doing these lists once I have stayed in an apartment for a few months. If I don’t do this I will continue to go through each room in my head when I’m out with my friends, etc. It makes me feel “complete” when I do this, if I don’t do it, I feel off. It has definitely taken up a lot of time in my life and often times I have to re-go over what I may be missing because I can’t focus on the list in my head. I was wondering what advice you can give me for this, or even lab tests that would be best for me. I am generally a healthy individual. I don’t take any meds, exercise regularly, eat a plant based diet, don’t get sick often, Use natural based products, occasionally meditate in the sauna, etc. It’s extremely embarrassing for me, the only person who – somewhat- knows is my boyfriend who has to sometimes wait while I go over my checklist in my head before we head out the door. Thanks!!!
