HouseCall: Athlete’s Foot, Spastic Colitis, Chronic Stomach Issues, Telogen Phase Hair Loss, EBV
Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend!
I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of our community’s questions that have come in over the past few weeks…
Let’s get started!
Ben: Hi Doc! I get “athlete’s foot” on my left pinky toe from time to time. It’s always in the same place on the same foot only. Only recently did I start to think that it may actually be some form of candida. Can you get candida on your toes? What is the fastest way to make it go away? Thanks for all you do. I’m inspired by your work ethic. Ben
Anonymous: Hi, dr. Cabral.. I have a friend with “chronic” spastic colitis and I’ve been trying to look it up and learn about it (even asked Michelle to help me find podcasts about it but with no luck) but haven’t found anything about it on the podcast.. How does it differ from ulcerative colitis? Is it similar to Chron’s? I know these are just names for a bunch of symptoms, but I would really like to learn about it from a source I trust (YOU!) and have all the information if my friend ever gets on board not to trust doctors who have been telling him his whole life that it’s chronic and putting him on drugs like Buscopan, etc., and he decides to listen and do something about it.. So, please, could you do a show about it or talk about it when you answer this? What are the causes and what to do about it? Possibly without having to test (because I’m sure he won’t want to).. Thank you so much, you’re the best!
Drake: Hi dr Cabral. I’ve had ongoing stomach problems for years that have come back and gone away. I’ve done the cbo protocol twice, as well as tried every diet you can think of. Things tend to get better for a while, and then come back. Currently what I am experiencing is a lot of gas, discomfort, and loose stools, and it seems to happen no matter what I eat. The worst and most difficult thing is actually my sleep. When my stomach problems and gas come back, it really disrupts my sleep, leading me to wake up 3-6 times per night to pee. I wake up with a really strong need to pee, but then pee very little. I am a 25 year old male, and have had this nocturnia type issue intermittently since 16. It seems to be related to my stomach issues, do you think that could be the case, and if I had 1000$ to spend on labs, which ones should I run?
Kathy: I have been dealing with Telogen phase hair loss for over 2 yrs. Can you suggest anything? I have tried multiple topical treatments, supplements, diet, relaxation techniques etc.i very much believe it is stress related as well as diet. My scalp itches, using nizoral shampoos etc to no avail! I did listen to your podcast and working on getting 60 grams of protein/day Thank you in advance! Kathy
Luke: Hi Dr Cabral, You are truly amazing. Your guidance and knowledge in this world is so undervalued, so thank you for being you. I have been through quite a lot, from going to the gym 6 days a week, eating relatively balanced, happy and healthy individual to one day January 2nd 2021, massive panic attack I thought i was going to die. Went to the ER they said panic attack. 2 weeks later, Fibromyalgia symptoms, then Chronic Fatigue, then burning sensations all over my body, then balance issues, then brain fog got so bad I didn’t even recognize who I was. I ended up with 30 plus chronic symptoms. This all lasted for months, bedridden at times. I found functional medicine, had high copper, blastocystis hominis parasite, overgrowth of streptococcus, and a high HVA / VMA Ratio in my OAT test. I have healed 20 of the 30 symptoms I was experiencing but some still remain. I am a strong believer that EBV was the main cause for all of this but the only tests in Australia that the doctors can do just says whether or not it’s active. No markers etc. What are your thoughts on this? My reamaining symptoms are (new symptom) very warm sensation, feels like someone poured warm milk down the left side of my leg, calf mainly but also my arm and sometimes my head.
Thank you for tuning into this weekend’s Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right!
