Check out today’s questions:
Ashley: Hi Dr. Cabral, I have had amenorrhea for quite a long time. It first started when I lost a large amount of weight for a bodybuilding competition. This was 10 years ago. Over the years I was put on birth control to help try and regulate the period and “bring it on” however I didn’t like the way that made me feel and I knew that was only putting a bandaid on the problem and not fixing the real issue. I have tried MANY different things to no avail. Fast forward to present day. In the last 2 years my period has started to return! My doctor says this is a great sign. Maybe my body is becoming more balanced? However it still is irregular. I’ve gotten it about 4-5 times a year the past two years, it lasts just a few days. The very hard part is I will experience pms symptoms for 3-4 weeks! Irritability, extreme bloating, extreme nipple and breast discomfort. Truly severe symptoms. It even affects me mentally as well as physically. I know you often talk about estrogen dominance but in my case, my estrogen, including estradiol and those other female hormones, are extremely low. What do you do in this case? How can I rebalance these hormones and ease these symptoms? There is a lot of information out there and it all can be so overwhelming, like there’s so much I need to do. Please help!
Anonymous: Hi Dr. Cabral! I’m a daily podcast listener and I want to thank you for all your helpful wisdom you share. I’ve had medical issues that I was born with that has caused me to have chronic pain and multiple surgeries throughout childhood and all the way to being an adult now. I recognize as an adult that those procedures and how I was treated was at times necessary and that the doctors were only trying to help. However, lately I’ve taken a look at what happened through a child’s perspective and can see how scary, invalidating and traumatic those experiences were. How do I move on from medical trauma? How do I get help with moving through this when the same people I look to for help are the same people that trigger these feelings in the first place? My body feels constantly stuck in SNS dominance despite following all the health protocols, and I know this issue is holding me back from being well. I’ve tried working with different therapists, hypnotherapist and a life coach. Any guidance would be much appreciated.
Erin: Hoping you have some advice… I keep getting sinus infections and constantly have allergy issues and in the winter often get bronchitis. I’ve done allergy testing and have bad environmental allergies. I’ve been doing a lot of gut healing over the past few years yet I am still having these issues. Starting to feel defeated…any ideas or advice? If it does help/matter, most family members on my moms side have allergy issues as well. Thanks so much for all you do.
Kathy: Dear Doctor Cabral, thank you for helping so many people. You are amazing! My daughter (who is in her 20’s) wants to know why something has been happening for the last few years, and I did do a podcast archive search, but nothing came up, so I would love to know if you have seen this before: The first bite of any type of food that she eats after not eating for a couple of hours (especially first thing in the morning) tastes very sour and causes her cheeks to pucker. The food is not necessarily a sour food, so it seems a little unusual. Water is the only thing that will not do this. She’s in great shape and takes good care of her health. Thank you so much, I really appreciate you. 🙂
Tina: I have a few brown spots on my face that my dermatologist is calling melasma. Is there a way to get rid of it naturally without using all the bleach and chemical creams he’s recommending? He told me melasma comes from the sun and from heat. So now I’m afraid to go for a walk during the day with the sun out and also I have been avoiding the infrared sauna because he said the heat can cause more of it. Are the spots caused by liver toxicity? Hormone in balance? How can I get rid of them? Thank you so much!
Lola: Hi! I have learnt so much from the show and it truly is a blessing! I am a 24year old vata-pitta female with kapha vikruti and I have had alopecia since I was 16. I had always had extremely fine and thin hair so getting alopecia really affected my mental health. It started out as small bald patches on the sides on my head and one in the back, but then over the years, I got thinning at the temples, a receding hairline and thinning at the part of my hair and the crown. I have tried everything but haven’t really found a solution. I have recently adopted a pitta pacifying diet, but I’m not sure if it’s helping. I am now losing tiny hairs that almost look like vellus hairs and I’m not sure why. I think the hair that regrows falls out after a few weeks. Please.provide some insight into what the issue could be. Also, I have tested my thyroid and it is normal.
Thank you for tuning into today’s Cabral HouseCall and be sure to check back tomorrow where we answer more of our community’s questions!
