On today’s show, I want to go over how these inflammatory processes occur in the body, what causes them, and the specific type of fat that exacerbates them.

  1. Foods That Contribute to Inflammation

When we consume fried foods, processed meats, and similar items, it leads to increased inflammation and the production of eicosanoids. Eicosanoids, in turn, generate leukotrienes, prostaglandins, and cytokines, all of which contribute to inflammation in cells and tissues.

2. What Can We Do to Counterbalance Eicosanoids

One effective way to counterbalance eicosanoids is by increasing your intake of omega-3 fatty acids, which have strong anti-inflammatory properties. You can obtain omega-3s from wild-caught fish like salmon, mackerel, and sardines, or by using high-quality supplements. Additionally, reducing your consumption of omega-6 fatty acids, commonly found in processed foods and vegetable oils, can further help regulate eicosanoid levels and promote a healthier inflammatory response.

3. How Do We Balance Cytokine

Balancing cytokines can be achieved through the use of certain herbs and natural foods. Incorporating anti-inflammatory herbs like Indian frankincense, turmeric, quercetin, and ginger into your diet can help modulate cytokine activity. Additionally, consuming antioxidant-rich green tea and vibrant purple vegetables, such as eggplants, purple cabbage, and beets, further supports the balance of cytokines.
