HouseCall:
Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows!
This is where we answer our community’s wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track!
Check out today’s questions:
Matt: Hello, I’ve been seeing/hearing a lot lately about how vegetables are bad for you because of certain defensive toxins they produce to protect against being eating. I see this a lot coming from the carnivore community. I was wondering if there is any validity to the claim that vegetables are “toxic”?
Nana: Hi Dr. Cabral, Thanks to you and your team, I am finally healing after years of chronic inflammation! I am currently on the CBO protocol and the diet has has helped curb some of the symptoms I had been having. However, I am still struggling with scalloped tongue, and thin hair and slow growing nails. I have been eating alot of fruits veggies, oils, and some meat, as well as daily smoothies but I don’t see any changes. I am wondering if it is malabsorption of some kind, but I am not sure what next steps to take and I am not currently able to do any functional medicine tests. Any advice? Also, for someone prone to pitta imbalances, is it okay to eat histamine releasing foods like citrus if they are avoiding histamine rich foods like avocado and smoked meats?
Nana: Hi again, I had a question about how to support a loved one with an illness who isn’t open to trying non-conventional medicine approaches, and isn’t ready to change their diet. How do you help them get better when they aren’t ready to do what it takes to get there?
Anonymous: Good morning! Could you recommend a couple of whole-house water filtration systems? They’re a big investment so I would want to make sure I get the right one that actually does what it’s supposed to do. Also, is it necessary to have both a water filtration and softener system (for health) or will just the filter do? Btw appreciate all that you do!
Paul: Hi Dr. Cabral, I appreciate all your work and I have a question about food sensitivity testing. There are multiple research papers indicating these tests do more harm than good due to multiple factors and can turn people off of eating healthy, nutritious foods simply because of an IgG antibody that was present at the time of the test. How do you coach IHPs to coach patients on results from these types of standard IgG tests? Thank you! Paul
Kelsie: Hi dr Cabral! I have had some constipation for a year or two. Recently I have had harder to pass stool and blood in stool. Would you recommend a colonoscopy in this situation?
