Today, I have a special video (by request) for you dedicated to toning and
defining one hard-to-target, body part!
I’ve given you so many abs and fat burning interval videos that I almost forget
to send along an exercise on how to strengthen, tone, and tighten your glutes
(AKA “buns o’ steel).
Besides holding up your jeans, well-defined, strong glutes also serve as a
protective measure for your lower back. Basically, if they’re strong, you’re more
likely to engage them when lifting and not strain your lower back…
So right now I’m going to give you a great 1-minute butt exercise to tone your
back side and strengthen the lower back and glute area. It’s called reverse
hyperextensions, or “dolphin kicks.”
I’m also going to show you how to do them over a ball for an added challenge!
(If you don’t have access to a stability ball don’t worry… you can do them lying
on a mat or on a bench.)
Here’s how to complete your 1-minute butt exercise:
1. Lie on your chest and stomach over a stability ball
2. Place both hands on the floor in a push-up position
3. Maintain just a slight bend in your elbows the whole time
4. Squeeze your glutes and lift both legs off the ground
5. Lower your legs slowly without touching the floor
6. Repeat for 15 total reps
Tips to remember:
1. Do not bend your elbows when you lift your legs
2. Keep your legs straight the whole set
3. Squeeze your glutes to lift the legs up
4. Keep your core muscles engaged to maintain balance
5. Breathe in on the way down and out on the way up
Try adding this 1-minute butt exercise to the end of a superset or at the
end of your Lose5in7 workout.
