I just read a scary piece of research that I had to share with you right away…
It’s a small study, but it highlighted the fact that just one junk food meal can severely impact your health.
Yes, you read that right – just ONE fast food meal!
Here’s what the study found:
Dr. Nigam and his team found that the study participant’s arteries dilated 24% LESS after a greasy fast food meal, as opposed to a Mediterranean style one.

In non-medical speak this means that the blood flow was more constricted and poor arterial function is one of the first steps towards accumulating plaque in your arteries.
And since heart disease is the #1 killer in the US, it’s something to think about…
But, before you start thinking that ALL fat is bad, here’s something else to chew on:
Both meals contained roughly the same amount of fat.
The healthy Mediterranean meal was composed of 51% fat, and the fast food meal was just over that at 58%.
Most people would assume (incorrectly of course) that both of those meals were unhealthy due to fat content alone…
However, the Mediterranean meal, which the participants ate, included salmon, almonds, vegetables and olive oil – All of which are made up of high levels of Omega-3 fats.
The fast food meal was composed of a sausage, egg, cheese, and hash browns, which are much higher in inflammatory Omega-6 fats.
(*As a side note, if the eggs and cheese were organic and came from GRASS-fed animals they would be higher in Omega-3’s, but this study used conventional animal products from grain-fed cows.)
Hopefully, this research did shock you a little into how BAD the Standard American Diet (SAD) really is…
