I often get asked, “What’s the #1 way to burn fat?”
It’s a great question and just 10 years ago we didn’t have a definitive answer…
But the times have changed and more research has proven without a doubt that there is a way to burn fat faster than any other method.
First things first, you can definitely burn fat through the following methods:
* Yoga
* Marial Arts
* Running
* Spinning (Cycling)
* Rowing
* Aerobics classes
However, each one of the methods listed above are inefficient and not designed specifically to burn body fat.
For example, the true intention of yoga is to focus on your breath, stretching the body, and tuning into your spiritual side.
Martial arts revolves around the transfer and movement of energy and often combines self-defense aspects.
Running, cycling, rowing, and aerobics classes are all focused on improving cardiovascular capacity (endurance).
So now that we know that you can burn body fat using those methods, but that they are inefficient means of doing so, we can now talk about the #1 way to burn body fat.
This method is called “Metabolic Resistance Training (MRT).”
The funny thing is that I was using this term even before it was officially coined, since it just made sense for what I was having my weight loss client do to lose weight quickly.
Basically, the term states that you should be using resistance based exercises done in an interval fashion to maximize fat loss (this also includes all-out sprints and body weight exercises).
The reason for this is that unlike the methods I first listed MRT allows you to continue to burn body fat well after your workout is over. None of the other modalities enable you to do so.
This is a HUGE discovery in terms of fat loss since if your goal is to truly lose weight and you’re not committed to any one particular exercise routine you can easily switch over to doing MRT style workouts and you’ll at least DOUBLE your results.
Now I wouldn’t have believed this if I hadn’t seen the results with my own eyes in my own personal exercise programs as well as my clients. And then when the research finally came out proving that Metabolic Resistance Training boosts your metabolism for up to 38 hours I knew that all the pieces had finally come together.
I do a lot of research in my work, but I never allow a controlled study dictate my programing in the real world with real life clients. However, in this particular instance the research matches up perfectly with my 15,000+ private client training sessions.
This is why I can wholeheartedly recommend you add in at least 2 days a week of Metabolic Resistance Training. (This also means that you can keep some of your other favorite exercise methods for the other days just like I do.)
In my Fatlossity Weight Loss System I actually recommend doing a short MRT workout every other day or 4-5x a week for those looking to burn the most amount of body fat possible. Keep in mind that if you do it every other day you are consistently keeping your metabolism elevated and as a result you’ll always be burning body fat…
(Of course, if you’ve been reading my articles long enough you know that you simply can’t reduce your weight and burn off fat without changing your nutrition – this does NOT mean just cutting calories.)
So now I’d like to give you a few of my favorite MRT exercises:
* Squat Presses
* Mountain Climbers
* Squat Thrusts
* Kettlebell swings
* Squats & Deadlifts
* Lunges & Step-Ups
* Push & Pull Exercises

Also, I shot a video for you demonstrating an MRT exercise you may not have seen before.
It’s called a “Dumbbell Backwards Lunge with Static Shoulder Press” and it’s what I consider a “total body training exercise.” This type of movement is an even MORE effective form of MRT since you’re using every muscle in your body all in one exercise!
