This could be one of the best deceptions of all time.
It’s being HEAVILY marketed on TV and in your local stores as a healthy “nutrition shake.”
The label even says, “#1 Doctor Recommended Brand!”
Wow… That’s bold.
So it must be great, right?
I’ll let you decide.
Its #1 food ingredient is corn maltodextrin (that’s fancy for carbohydrates that spike your blood sugar).
It has GMO ingredients (chemically engineered food substances).
It contains 23 grams of sugar.
It’s loaded with polyunsaturated fats to increase inflammation and free radical damage in your body (speeding up the aging process).
And, it contains most of the cheapest, unhealthy ingredients known to man (soy, corn, milk, and sugar)
Now, you’re probably thinking… This sounds terrible. Right?
Well, it gets worse…
This is the same “stuff” they give you in hospitals.
Seriously.
Apparently, sick and dying people in hospitals don’t need nutritious food?
And, since no one ever argues against feeding the hospital inmates (I mean patients) healthy food to help them recover faster, doctors and hospitals make deals with pseudo nutrition companies at the expense of all of us.
Once again, it’s what I refer to as putting profit above people.
It’s shameful and embarrassing.
(Am I the only one that gets upset about what big business and government is doing to its own people?)
What’s even worse is that less than 10% of the medical doctors in the US have any nutrition education at all, and those that do have nothing more than a few token credits to add to their resume…
That means MDs don’t even know if this stuff is good or bad.
Wait… But isn’t part of a doctor’s Hippocratic Oath, “Do no harm”?
Interesting…
(For true healthy nutrition advice seek out a Naturopathic doctor, nutritionist, MD with advanced nutritional study, or a health practitioner skilled in nutrition.)
Okay, by now you’re probably wondering what the product is… The brand name is called “Ensure.”
And just because it contains protein and vitamins doesn’t mean it’s a health product – or necessarily good for you.
The most important factor is always WHERE those ingredients came from.
More expensive is not always better, but cheaper is almost always WORSE for you…
After all, if you use high quality ingredients you can’t sell things for the price of dirt.
The take away is this – NEVER trust marketing until you’ve done the research yourself. Just because it says “doctor recommended” doesn’t mean you should trust it (I’d actually be more afraid).
What you should do is read the label and ingredients yourself to “ensure” you’re willing to put this product in your body.
Food is medicine.
Bad food is poison.
Stay healthy, stay strong, and stay SMART!
