Product Description

Both conventional and naturopathic medicine agree that your thyroid needs very specific nutrients in order for it to function properly…

Without those nutrients, you cannot expect it to have the raw material to actually create enough thyroid hormone to operate at an optimal level. And when it’s not functioning well, your body and brain will present very specific symptoms

Do You Suffer From:

  • Brain fog
  • Slow metabolism
  • Weight gain
  • Hard to lose weight
  • Dry skin
  • Poor digestion
  • Low mood or depression
  • Elevated levels of cholesterol
  • Thinning hair
  • Weakened immunity
  • Fatigue

If you answered yes to more than one of the symptoms above you may be suffering from lowered thyroid function.

Add Back What Is Missing

One of the best places to start to boost your metabolism, brain, and thyroid is by replacing what is missing.

Essentially, you are replenishing your deficiencies and simply giving your body what it needs to make thyroid hormone. After all, without these raw materials, how are you supposed to make enough thyroid hormone? This is when Orthomolecular and Functional Medicine are at their best, since science has proven the exact nutrients needed by your thyroid.

Those vitamins, mineral, amino acids, neurotransmitters, herbs and other cofactors that boost thyroid function are:

  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin E
  • Zinc
  • Copper
  • Selenium
  • Iodine
  • l-Tyrosine

In addition to these specific thyroid nutrients, I also recommend a daily activated multi-vitamin or the Daily Nutritional Support shake powder in order for you to get all the other co-factors such as B-vitamins and additional minerals.

Daily Thyroid Support  Overview

Daily Thyroid Support is a comprehensive formulation that provides a blend of nutrients and botanicals working in synergy to support thyroid health.

Daily Thyroid Support includes L-tyrosine and iodine, which make up the backbone of the thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). The addition of zinc, copper, selenium, vitamin A, and the botanical guggulipid activate enzymes that enhance the conversion of T4 into the active thyroid hormone T3.

Vitamin A and zinc also help improve cellular sensitivity to thyroid hormones. Turmeric, along with the antioxidants vitamin C and E and N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), provide a powerful combination of antioxidants that boost thyroid health by reducing free radical stress.

Clinical Applications

  • Helps to Maintain Healthy Thyroid Function
  • Promotes the Synthesis of Thyroid Hormones
  • Helps Support Conversion of T4 to T3
  • Improves Cellular Sensitivity to Thyroid Hormones

In Depth Ingredient Benefits

Vitamins and Minerals

Thyroid hormones are made from amino acid L-tyrosine and iodine. Iodine is an essential trace mineral and is necessary for the synthesis of thyroid hormones, as it is one of the most important components of the hormones T4 and T3. The thyroid gland absorbs iodine from the blood and incorporates it into thyroid hormones. In addition to supporting thyroid hormone production, research shows iodine acts as an antioxidant, supporting a healthy thyroid gland and protecting a variety of tissues, including mammary tissue, the eyes and gastrointestinal lining.

Normal thyroid status is dependent on adequate levels of many trace minerals for the synthesis and metabolism of thyroid hormones. The minerals zinc, copper and selenium are required cofactors for the enzymes that convert T4 to T3. Selenium deficiency has been shown to contribute to decreased T4 to T3 conversion. Supplementation of selenium can also help decrease thyroperoxidase (TPO) antibodies in thyroid autoimmunity. Supplementation with zinc has been shown to restore T3 levels in patients with normal T4 and low T3, demonstrating its role in the conversion process. Vitamin A and vitamin E are also necessary for normal thyroid hormone manufacturing.

Antioxidants (Turmeric, Vitamins C and E, and N-Acetyl Cysteine)

Increased free radical activity can compromise healthy T4 to T3 conversion. N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), a precursor to the body’s master antioxidant glutathione, boosts thyroid health by accelerating antioxidant activity in the thyroid gland. Turmeric (Curcuma longa), along with the antioxidants vitamin C and E, has been shown to promote a healthy thyroid gland due to direct antioxidant activity.

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) has been used in Aryuvedic and indigenous medical systems for over 3,000 years and has been examined in research studies for its stress-lowering effects. Ashwagandha has been found to exhibit GABA agonist activity, which accounts for its ability to relax the nervous system. Ashwagandha may also stimulate thyroid activity indirectly, via its effects on cellular antioxidant systems, specifically by increasing the antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase and catalase and reducing lipid peroxidation.

Guggulipid

The gum resin of the guggul plant has been used in Ayurvedic medicine in India for nearly 3,000 years. Guggulipid (Commiphora mukul) has been shown to support thyroid function, primarily by decreasing lipid peroxidation in the liver, the principal site of T3 generation. Guggul extract has also been shown to have thyroid-stimulating action by increasing iodine uptake by the thyroid gland and increasing the activities of thyroid peroxidase and protease.
