How are you different from other trainers?
That's a tough question, since I've been in the industry for over 10 years I have seen
all sorts of trainers. There are those trainers that are excellent and then there are
others who are making it up as they go along. I feel that my credentials are the highest
you can achieve in the field, but it is really my continuing education that sets me apart.
I read for at least an hour everyday on the latest research and cutting edge techniques
that most people won't hear about for another 5-10 years when they become
"mainstream." Simply put this means my clients benefit from getting the best possible
programs to reach their goals the fastest and safest way possible!
What is your training philosophy?
Motivation. Dedication. Education. By using those three principles over the last 10
years I have seen my clients achieve goals they never thought possible. You owe it to
yourself to invest in your health and find a holistic exercise program that is specifically
designed to meet your needs. I personally guarantee you will love your workouts and
your results!
How should I go about choosing a trainer?
Great question. If you are really serious about achieving a specific goal or need of
yours take the time to research your trainer. First, make sure they are NASM, ACSM, or
NSCA certified and up to date. Second, ask to see if they have any secondary
certifications in an area you are looking for, such as a nutrition or sports conditioning.
Third, ask for a consultation to see if their philosophy and personality matches with
yours. If any of those steps aren't met, keep looking!
When should I start working with a personal trainer?
First you must figure out what you want to accomplish. This will allow both you and
your trainer to put together a comprehensive program that maps out an exact plan of
how to get you to your goals. Next, you must figure out by what date would you like to
see you goals become a reality. After that sit down with a certified trainer and
customize your routine.
How often should I workout out with my trainer?
Although this varies with each person, it really all depends on what type of program
you are interested in and how many days a week you can commit to exercising. I
typically see most of my clients for 30 -60 minutes 2-3x/week. I meet with some of my
clients 3-5x/week who are looking to get the maximum results in a shorter period of
time. Whether you are working out on your own or with a trainer you should shoot for
60 minutes of exercise most days of the week. Another option if you are
self-motivating is that you may just want hire a personal trainer to set you up with a
new program if you've been using the same one for over 4-6 weeks.
Which is better - the 30 or 60 minute workout?
It's all based on personal preference, specific goals, price, and availability. If you are
looking for a great weight loss workout program, the 30 minute Fast&Fit can get your
heart rate pumping and boost your metabolism for hours. The 60 minute workouts
really allow you to address flexibility, postural alignment, and other areas that you
would not be able to get to in a 30 minute workout.
How much space do I need for an In-Home workout?
If you have a 6' x 6' open space in your home you have plenty of room to get in a great
workout. This space can be in living room, guest bedroom, basement, deck,
backyard, or any other spot where you can lie outstretched on the floor.
What do I need for In-Home training equipment?
It can be as little as just using your own bodyweight or as much as having your own
fully equipped gym inside of your house. I recommend the Hide-Away Home Gym
because of its size, effectiveness and price.
Who are your favorite clients to work with?
I get asked this a lot and to tell you the truth, my current clients are always my favorite
clients! The reason being is that I can't help but to fully invest myself into each of my
clients. I like being able to answer all of their health & fitness questions whether it is
during a session or if they're at the grocery food store trying to figure out which instant
oatmeal is the best! I work with 8 year old children all the way through 82 year old
seniors, which keeps me on my toes and allows me to develop exciting new programs
no matter what the age or ability.
